THE WEDDING STATIONERY TIMELINE EVERY COUPLE NEEDS
Your wedding stationery is one of the most important aspects of your Wedding. Not only does it set the tone, but it also informs your guests as to the details of the event.
When it comes to save-the-dates and invitations, I have listed a basic Timeline that you can follow to ensure that everything is sent out in a timely manner and order.
1 Year – 8 Months before the Wedding: Send save-the-dates
As soon as you know your Wedding date and Venue (or even just the area), you can send out your Save the Dates. This can be emailed or sent to guests up to a year before the wedding and not later than 8 months before the wedding.
6 Months before the Wedding: Choose and order your invitations
Start researching wedding stationers and browsing invitation styles about six months before your wedding. The Invitation sets the tone for your whole wedding, so it’s best to give yourself plenty of time to choose the perfect design and place your order. Remember to add you RSVP in the invitation, this being at least 6 weeks before the wedding day. This is also a good time to get your guest list finalised, with address if needed.
8-12 weeks before the Wedding: Send out invitations & start with your Stationery on the day
Your Invitations can be sent out at least 12 weeks (3months) before your wedding, depending on whether you’re using standard mail or e-mail, which is almost instant. Then you can start browsing and getting ideas and quotes on your wedding stationery for the day.
2-3 weeks before the Wedding: Finalise your Stationery on the day
By now Wedding vibes are running high, but there is still some important things to settle and finalise, like your wedding stationery. The reason why I recommend only 2-3 weeks before, is because guests tend to cancel close to the wedding date – couples may break up and individuals may fall sick. So best to leave the Seating Plan for last.
6 weeks Post the Wedding: Send out Thank you cards
This is a special gesture that brides often forget – remember to send out those Thank You Cards to your guests.
If you’re exhausted after all your wedding preparations, don’t be afraid to ask your Stationer to assist with this very important task.
